Artist's Description
Bodie is an original mining town from the late 1800's. What's left today stands in a state of "arrested decay" and is maintained by the California State Parks System, who took over the town in 1962 to make it a State Historic Park. On a daily basis miners would emerge from the mills and head for the bars and the red light district to spend their earnings. The mixture of money, gold and alcohol would often prove fatal. Newspapers report that towns people would ask in the mornings "Have a man for breakfast?" Meaning 'Did anyone get killed last night?' Infrared Canon 5D Mk II. Shot in one of the saloons of Bodie ghost town. I used a 24mm tilt shift lens to get the extra depth of field.

About Alan Kepler
I love Photographing the natural landscape as well as a variety of other scenes in our world. I have been photographing for 15 years. I have witnessed the simple grandeur of creation and the miracles that surround us in the natural world. Many of my photographic images capture the magic of the wilderness, pure and simple. In fact, I never uses color filters to enhance the images or modify them to be more than what I witnessed at the moment the shutter was snapped. CAMERA EQUIPMENT My cameras of choice is the full spectrum converted Olympus OMD M5 Mark II. I also use a medium format Pentax 645Z digital. EXPRESSIVE PHILOSOPHY When using photo editing software, it is important to express or interpret what was captured, in a...

Nice shot, Alan. The road to Bodie was closed in December when I went past but it's good to see some of what I missed. L/F
